Abstract:
The Asymptotic Theory of ideals originated
with the investigation in a nœtherian ring
of the Samuel numbers

The number

As an answer of a question raised by Samuel, Nagata has shown that the sets of deviations , are bounded.
In [9], McAdam denotes

respectively the least upper bounds of those two sets of deviations. If

he considers the four sets
where

He investigates when each of these four sets is bounded. In each case he gives
a necessary and sufficient condition.
In [3] Ayegnon and Dichi extend the Samuel numbers to pairs , where
